ZEKE LAU GOES NEARLY PERFECT TO HIGHLIGHT STOP #2 OF THE RIP CURL GROMSEARCH IN HAWAII

_ZekeLau HeffMMLD1407The Rip Curl GromSearch presented by H2O Overdrive scored stellar Kewalos for stop #2 this past Saturday, July 10th.  With a stacked line up of Hawaii’s best young juniors, the action proved top notch.

Young O'ahu local, Ezekiel Lau, came out with guns blazing in the 16/U Boys Final.  With a massive, stock, no-grab air reverse, Zeke nabbed the $100 cash for the ‘H2O Overdrive Maneuver of the Event’ and a 9.5 waves score.  To back up the 9.5 Zek smashed a left for a perfect 10-point ride slamming the door shut on Kaoli Kahokuloa, Cole Yamakawa, and Dylan Kowalski and taking the $50 Dragon High Heat Total to boot.

Queen's Waikiki Oahu
May 22 - 23,  2010

More than 250 surfers age 5 to 14 from across the island chain and as far away as Australia hit the waves for the 13th Annual T&C Surf / Surfer Magazine Grom Contest May 22-23 at Queen’s surf break in Waikiki.

The event is like no other in the islands. Kids ranked 15th or higher in HASA or NSSA are not eligible, giving more kids the opportunity to gain competitive experience without the pressure of a rated contest. The genesis of this unique event arose from the same Hawaii local who created the now iconic yin-yang logo nearly 40 years ago.
