Carissa Moore dominates Billabong Freewave Challenge

October 15, 2008 : - - Newport Beach -- Red hot Hawaiian surfer Carissa Moore has claimed top honors in the Heartbreaker division of the Billabong Freewave Challenge Mainland edition.  The 16-year-old phenomenon had both the first- and second-placing waves in the online event, which examined the best surfing performances captured on video on the US Mainland during the summer months ending September 22, 2008.

Advantage Rent A Car Official Rental Car Company for the 26th Annual Vans Triple Crown of Surfing

October 30, 2008 - Advantage Rent A Car has been chosen as the Official Rental Car Company for the 26th Annual Vans Triple Crown of Surfing November 12 through December 20, 2008, on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.

"Because the Triple Crown of Surfing event takes place over the course of several weeks, we know participants and spectators alike are looking for a great value on their rental car," says Denny Hecker, Chairman of Advantage Rent A Car. "Not only have we established a preferred rate for renters attending this event, but we have made it affordable for renters under the age of 25 to rent from Advantage as well."

Altered Dream Tour Format for ASP World Tour in 2009

October 27, 2008 - Coolangatta -- Following one of the most historic board meetings to date, the ASP has introduced the option for a new competition format to be implemented in ASP World Tour events in 2009.

While the traditional 48-man format will still be available, events can elect to implement an altered 48-man format consisting of the following: two opening elimination man-on-man rounds. Round 1 will consist of 32 surfers, those rated 17 – 27 on the ASP World Tour, three Tour/Injury wildcards, the Top 15–rated surfers on the ASP WQS and three event wildcards.

Australia wins third consecutive ISA World Surfing Games

October 19, 2008 - Costa de Caparica, Portugal - Australia won their third consecutive ISA World Surfing Games Team Championship and gold medals today in Costa de Caparica. This was their fourth out of the seven editions in the history of the event. It was a sunny, beautiful day at Marcelino beach, with waves improving from yesterday and reaching three feet with good conditions.

October 4, 2008  - Mundaka, Basque Country/Spain – Former ASP World Champion C.J. Hobgood (USA) defeated Joel Parkinson (AUS) in three-foot (one meter) barreling waves at the Billabong Pro Mundaka to claim his first ASP World Tour victory in four years today.
