| Oahu surfer attacked by a shark while surfing Ka'a'awa |

 September 10, 2008 - A 40-year old windward Oahu resident was attacked by a shark today while surfing in Kaaawa. It happened near the Crouching Lion shortly before five o'clock this afternoon. The surfer was bitten twice in the leg. He was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.A witness who was on scene, Doug Miller says, "I was shocked never saw a shark attack in person or results of one looked like some took a chainsaw to his leg really." Officials say the victim had been sitting on his surf board in the surf break near the crouching lion when he was attacked. EMS Spokesman, Bryan Cheplic says, "There was another surfer out there that witnessed the attack they didn't know each other patient able to paddle self to beach and person was big help, controlled bleeding till paramedics and firefighters got here." "Now we're looking at an injury to the right leg, back of thigh and calf area," says Honolulu Fire Department Captain Robert Main. The shark also took a bite out of the surf board.
