FANNING CLAIMS QUIKSILVER PRO FRANCE CROWN; CAN CLINCH TITLE NEXT WEEK

September 29, 2007 - Seignosse, France; - Mick Fanning (AUS) the newly crowned 2007 Quiksilver Pro France Champion, is mathematically capable of clinching his maiden Foster’s ASP World Title in Mundaka, Spain next week. Fanning beat South Africa’s Greg Emslie, in three to five foot (one to one half meter) surf at Les Bourdaines this afternoon.

September 25, 2007 - Hossegor, France –The last nine heats of Round 2 of the Quiksilver Pro France were wrapped up at a mobile event site in nearby Capbreton today. The first six heats of Round 2 were run on Sunday at La Graviere, Heat 7 was run before conditions deteriorated yesterday, and the final eight heats were held in four to six foot (one to two metre) waves at a beachbreak known as Santosha this morning.

SEMIFINALISTS DECIDED FOR OAKLEY PRO JUNIOR

September 21, 2007 - San Clemente  – The eight semifinalists in the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Grade-2 Oakley Pro Junior have been decided today after a stunning afternoon of competition.

Although scheduled to run through the Semifinals this afternoon with the Finals set to run on Sunday, event organizers at the Oakley Pro Junior opted to call competition off following the completion of the Quarterfinals due to the rapidly deteriorating conditions.

TITLE CONTENDERS INTO QUIKSILVER PRO FRANCE ROUND 3

September 23, 2007 - Hossegor – The Top 5 rated surfers on the Foster’s ASP World Tour have advanced to Round 3 of the Quiksilver Pro France, but Taj Burrow (AUS), Andy Irons (HAW) and Joel Parkinson (AUS) had to negotiate Round 2 before earning their berths today. Heats 7-12 of Round 1 and Heats 1-6 of Round 2 were run in favorable six foot (two metre) conditions at La Graviere.

September 22, 2007 - Hossegor -- No official Quiksilver Pro France competition was held in the six to eight (two-plus metre) waves at La Graviere today, but the Foster's Surf Showdown did the job of delighting the thousands of fans on the beach today.

FREESURF: It seemed like you just took off on a roll this year. Granted there was some talk of a rivalry between you and Sally [Fitzgibbons], but it seemed like it was more of a matter of when, not if, you would secure your title this year. Was there a point this year when you felt like, “yeah, I can win a title this year”?

Carissa Moore: I think every woman on tour wants and believes that they can win a world title, otherwise they wouldn’t be competing at this level. Dad and I talked about the title a few times, but never more than using it as motivation. Sally was nipping at my heels the whole year and there was a placement shift halfway through where I was nipping at hers. It was so close that I never really could let my guard down, just had to keep my head focused and take everything one step at a time. When the seconds started counting down in the Steph-Sally semi in France and Steph was ahead, I think that was finally the moment that I let it all go. Read more...

Rainos Hayes: Well, I grew up on the North Shore pretty much in the same place that I live now, kind of by Sunset Beach. I was a pro for a while and rode for Quiksilver from about 15 to 25 years old and had a limited amount of success.
